SoCal XC League Sprint End of Season event

Nice day out for the end of the SoCal League. This was a Sprint event primarily for A and B class gliders. Aaron stretched the Sprint pilots with a task down-range to Hanger 24.

Conditions were 'sporty' above launch so not so easy or comfortable flying at first. Most of the Sprint pilots made it a little further than usual downrange and enjoyed the challenge to fly further than usual, and pick their landing spot away from the familiar Marshall landing area.

I managed to climb out over the big wash and it got easier and easier from there connecting up easy to find thermals at the Indian Casino and on Mt Harrison.  Mean speed of this flight was 31km/h, which is very fast.

Myself and some other pilots on C and D wings that launched earlier made it to Hanger 24.

Crossing Redlands Airport. Landing area is the carpark in the top right of the picture.
