Great video showing dozens of pilots taking off in Piedrahita. I've taken off on the launch many times, and it's big, but a little tricky due to the shallow slope, scrubby bushes and road directly below. In the video you see comp wings with high aspect ratio's with their quirky, fussy launch characteristics - cravatted wingtips, overshooting, twists,collapse, the works. The sheer number and speed of takeoffs is amazing. Typically Pena Negra does come 'on' quite quickly once the day gets going, but it can also get blown out if left too late, hence the rush for these comp pilots to get airbone so close to each other.
