Slow going at the Superfinal

Captured these Live Track view of the leaders in Task 4 of the Superfinal. With a lot of the worlds best pilots already down in the gently rolling Brazillian countryside, climbs were painfully slow.

Notice the wide, beautifully smooth circles as these pilots squeeze every meter of climb out of a slow day. My guess is this thermal was averaging about 0.5 m/s or less.

Then they fanned out, looking for the low save.  If one had found a climb, the others would have attempted to join them.   None of these pilots is more than 300m above the ground, but landing options abound in this terrain. Some of these pilots probably knew this was their last glide of the day.

When your luck runs out pick a landing field close to the road!

Klaudia Bulgakow gives a few impressions of the grey day and landing in a 'shithole' four kilometers from the nearest road.
