Raining today so highlight of the day was lecture by Arnold Frankenburger about competition flying, and go cart racing with the SoCal crowd. Dimitri won the go carting and is also winning the Sport class in the Race event. Man that guy is competitive!
Tomorrow may be flyable. Pressure looks low, decent chance of rain, so will depend on cloudbase and heating by 2pm. Might be cloud flying rather than blue thermals.
No doubt we will go up the hill and it will look dubious at first.
Friday and Saturday definately look good once initial cloud cover burns off

Look up at your glider. Dimitri looks up all the time when in turbulence. This allows you to see and control glider surges or activity faster than feeling it.

Don't turn in thermals that are less than the average thermal of the day. Each turn takes 20-40 seconds, it doesn't take many turns to add up to 2-3 minutes.
Keep on speedbar right into the thermal.
How does the gaggle make decisions? There is no direct communication, so often gaggle decision making is a mystery.
