Paragliding Competition Innovation from the Chabre Open

Reported in Cross Country Magazine

The popular fun competition, now in its eleventh year, will use aspect ratio as well as EN-category to determine which class a glider competes in.
In an email announcing the registration date for the 2016 competition organisers wrote:
“Classes this year will be determined by [EN] rating and aspect ratio of pilots’ wings rather than just EN rating. We feel this is fairer.”
“Fun class is EN B or below with an aspect ratio of 5.2 or less. Recreation is EN B or below and aspect ratio of 5.3 to 5.7. Sport is EN C or below and aspect ratio of 5.8 to 6.3. And X-Class is EN D or below and aspect ratio greater than 6.3.”
